After graduating from fitness and health school, it’s important to ensure that your clients warm up before a workout–as this practice prepares the muscles to articulate, extend, and contract. On the other hand, skipping the warm-up can put muscles at a greater risk of strain–increasing the likelihood of injury. Ideally, a warm-up should last around 15 minutes, consisting of a combination of mobility exercises, stretching, and light cardio.Â

As a personal trainer, it’s easy to make the mistake of assigning your clients a workout and not paying close enough attention while they complete their reps. However tempting it may be to scroll through your phone during a long session, a key component of your ability to keep clients injury free is the close observation of their movements while they perform an exercise.
